Senior Accountant - Technical Accounting

Halliburton is looking to add an additional member to the Technical Accounting team.  The Senior Accountant-Technical Accounting will report to the Supervisor-Technical Accounting and will be primarily involved in researching and responding to complex accounting issues in the organization including revenue recognition, consolidation accounting, investment accounting, impairment analyses, lease accounting, and various other matters.  The role will also heavily involve reviewing and interpreting various contracts and proposing the appropriate accounting treatment.

 

Job Duties & Requirements

  • Responsible for advising and assisting global finance and accounting personnel on complex accounting issues
  • Researches and resolves complex accounting issues and transactions including related internal controls.
  • Performs review and demonstrates understanding of various contracts with customers, vendors, and other complex transactions.
  • Contributes or prepares specialized memos and reports on complex accounting issues and transactions
  • Monitors and assesses the impact of new accounting standards
  • Supports external auditors as needed
  • Provide accounting assistance during special projects, such as mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.
  • Under general supervision, applies knowledge of the company's business systems, business processes and controls, including policies and procedures, relative to the location and department assigned.
  • Demonstrates understanding of organizational structure and core businesses of the company and industry.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in moderately complex aspects of general accounting, internal controls, company policy, financial analysis and reporting, forecasting, and financial applications, as well as intermediate levels of proficiency with industry and company acumen.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Solid attention to detail and high standards for quality
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting related roles required.
  • Requires completion of an undergraduate degree in accounting, business, or related field.
  • CPA license required or actively pursuing
  • Knowledge of US GAAP or country-specific accounting principles required.
