Discipline Lead – Position Description

Lead a multi-disciplinary team focused on implementation of diagnostics and decision making solutions for fracturing operations.

 

The multi-disciplinary team consists of 10-20 subject matter experts in areas ranging from sensor physics, data collection, data interpretation, modeling, automation, control and decision algorithms for controlling surface equipment.  The team’s objective is to deliver business solutions in collaboration with modeling, data analytics, automation, control and surface efficiency teams.

 

Expectations and work duties:

  • Clarifies the action needed:  Clarifies the problem and the solution and makes sure that employees clearly understand the new plan of action.
  • Commits to action:  Implements action to resolve the problem within a reasonable time period.
  • Maintains relationships:  Implements ongoing effective ways to keep the lines of communication and collaboration open with others.
  • Maintains the self-confidence and self-esteem of others:  Acknowledges others ideas, opinions and contributions; expresses confidence in others talents; demonstrates respect for people at all levels.
  • Subject matter experience with fiber optic and electrical sensors, diagnostics, automation, controls, fracturing equipment, down-hole sensor deployment and upstream oil & gas applications desirable.

 

Education:

  • Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Material Science, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree, and minimum of 10 years experience or through 14 years of related experience. Incumbents at this level will usually hold a certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer.
  • A candidate will have a MSc or PhD in a relevant field with proven experience in managing teams and project is preferred.
  • Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for a higher-level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs.
