Internships


Halliburton student interns contribute to the overall success of the Company by bringing their motivation, fresh ideas and expertise to their respective roles. In turn, interns gain hands-on experience and develop skills in their chosen fields with a global company and industry leader. In Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, several college-level students are selected for either co-practical or apprentice internships.

  • Co-practical interns are students pursuing degrees in petroleum, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering or geology at partner universities, who take part in Halliburton training programs and job rotations specific to the product service line to which they are assigned for a period of six months.
  • Apprentice interns are students in technical and professional programs, including administration, accounting, business, computer science, economics, industrial engineering, and other fields, for a period ranging from six months to two years.

Eligibility

  • In Argentina, students interns must be citizens of Argentina and available to work from Monday to Friday four hours per day. The maximum term in which a student may serve as intern is one year.
  • In Bolivia, student interns must be citizens of Bolivia in their final year of study in engineering, geology, geophysics, computer science, administration, economics, accounting or other relevant fields. They must have the internship as part of their graduating requisites and be available to work full-time for the whole duration of the internship.
  • In Brazil, student interns must be citizens of Brazil and available to work in Macae, Rio de Janeiro, Vitoria or Santos, Monday through Friday, six hours per day, and expected to complete their academic studies in Engineering, Geoscience, Computer Science, Administration or Technical and to graduate in six months to two years.
  • In Colombia, student interns must be citizens of Colombia. Those pursuing degrees in petroleum, mechanical, electrical or systems engineering or geology must be in their final year of study and available to work full-time. Students in technical and professional programs for administration, accounting, business, computer science, economics, and industrial engineering must be eligible for SENA contact.
  • In Ecuador, student interns must be citizens of Ecuador. Those pursuing degrees in petroleum, mechanical, electrical, systems engineering or geology and students in technical and professional programs for administration, accounting, business, computer science, economics, and industrial engineering must be able to work 6 hours per day only from Monday to Friday and the maximum period that a student can be an intern is up to 1 year.
  • In Mexico, student interns must be citizens of Mexico in their final year of study in engineering, geology, geophysics, computer science, administration, economics, accounting or other relevant fields, available to work full-time for one month, and for summer internships, available to relocate.
  • In Peru, undergraduate students must be studying at an institute or university (and be at least in the sixth semester) and capable of work up to 40 hours a week.
  • In Trinidad, for interns in field positions for our PSLs, ATPs and Tech. Profs are required to have a minimum of an undergraduate Engineering degree from an accredited institution; for positions below ATP, a Technician’s Diploma will be required. For interns in Support Functions, they are required to have the respective Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification for their field of work from an accredited institution, for example, in Accounting, ACCA qualification will be required. Persons must be a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago or Suriname (for Suriname operations).
  • In Venezuela, student interns must be citizens of Venezuela. Those pursuing degrees in petroleum, mechanical, electrical or systems engineering or geology must be in their final year of study and available to work full-time. Students in technical and professional programs for administration, accounting, business, computer science, economics, and industrial engineering must be eligible for Fundei contact.

Duration: Co-practical internships typically last six months, and apprentice internships range from six months to two years, depending upon the specific roles and local laws.

Qualifications: We are looking for students who can speak and write well in English, are in good standing at their university or school, and who have completed most of the academic requirements to date.

Compensation: Internship salaries depend upon the specific roles and local polices.

  • Argentina – No specific intern application date
  • Brazil – Accepts intern applications year round, but typical deadlines are December and June
  • Bolivia – No specific intern application date
  • Colombia – Accepts intern applications every month, but typical deadlines are December and May
  • Ecuador – Accepts intern applications every month, depending upon PSL needs
  • Mexico – Internships are not available in this country
  • Peru – Accepts intern applications between January and March and between July and August
  • Trinidad – Accepts intern applications by March
  • Venezuela – No specific intern application date
