JOB DESCRIPTION: Attorney

 

 

We are looking for an Attorney to join Halliburton’s global legal team.  This role, based out of our Aberdeen office, presents an ideal opportunity to be part of the commercial legal team, supporting legal matters across all business lines throughout Europe. 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Conducts development and execution of contracting strategy for all product services lines across the organisation within Europe.
  • Reviews contracts, tenders and other forms of proposed agreements received by the commercial legal department and analyses for conformity to company and contract policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Take the lead in handling various legal matters, including liaising with outside counsel on commercial and corporate matters and working with other departments of the organisation on various specialised projects.
  • Identifies legal and commercial risk and advises all business stakeholders on appropriate legal and practical mitigatory measures.
  • Conducts contractual negotiations directly with customers whilst also working closely with business stakeholders in their engagement with customers.
  • Supports and consults with management and the wider business on the omission of essential contract terms and recommendation of modifications in contractual documents.
  • Facilitates legal training to the wider business.   
  • Advocates awareness of and ensures compliance with business policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Develops ideas and strategies and contributes to discussion to improve processes and procedures with a view of continuous improvements.
  • Expedite solution of problems that arise in relation to organisational operations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of legal requirements, industry rules and regulation related to contractual documents, performance of work and business relationships.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Legally qualified (3+ years PQE)
  • Ideally have experience in commercial contracts or in the energy/oil and gas industries.

  • Team player who is a strategic thinker with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships at all levels in the organisation and adapt to role requirements.
  • Flexible to multitask and adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced global business.
  • Ability to travel to undertake occasional short assignments within the UK and Europe, as required.
