CNC programmer role – Req 147977


This position is responsible for creating CNC programs for a range of 2 axis , 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machining centres.

Work performed requires application of standard manufacturing techniques, and relevant cutting data relative to various material types

Updates existing CNC programs per engineering change requests or manufacturing requirements

Makes recommendations for improvement in manufacturing methods and validates accuracy of programmes prior to release of programs to shop floor.

Skills typically acquired through 2-4 years related CNC Programming/Operating experience.


Main duties


  • Create CNC part programmes for a range of CNC controlled production machines
  • Update existing CNC programmes to incorporate Engineering Change Notices and/or changes to standard techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Review and interpret the requirements of technical engineering drawings and specifications
  • Monitor production queues for CNC programme availability, as required
  • Maintain DNC system
  • Liaise with Method Analysts, machine operators and tooling engineers to ensure standards in methods, tool cutting data, tool selection etc are maintained & improved where possible
  • Support machine operators in programme proving
  • Support method analysts in their duties as required
  • Supply manufacturing support to the manufacturing shop as required


Experience: A recognised manufacturing based technical apprenticeship preferred but not essential.


Qualifications: HNC Pr               Qualifications: HNC Production/Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline preferred but not essential.

Knowledge/Skills: Experience in programming/operating Yamazaki machines is preferred


An good understanding of manufacturing methods

Competency in the use of SAP preferred.

Computer literate

Good communication skills

Experience in continuous improvement
