Under general supervision, applies theories, principles and practices to the research and development of new and improved products, processes and procedures. Performs routine research and experimentation at the direction of technology leadership. Communicates occasionally with technical client. Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity. Considers security requirements in new product / technology design and development. Responds as directed to customers needs. Participates in professional societies. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations. Consequences of error are easily measured and can be confined. Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering or similar discipline and 4 years of related experience. Completion of a masters or PHD in Science or Engineering is preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

•           Work closely with Product Owners and Lead Scientist to understand the requirements

•           Hypothesize, theorize, model and code them into the respective engineering software in a timely manner

•           Apply theories, principles and practices to the research and development of new and improved engineering models.

•           Contribute inventions, novel designs or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important problems.

•           Patents, publications, and presentations are important, required contributions

•           Participates in professional societies

•           Work in a Multi-Disciplinary team environment (engineering, science teams)

•           Foster Relationships through Leadership and Communication Skills

 

Basic Qualifications:

•           BE or ME or MS degree in Engineering required. PhD in engineering degree is preferred.

 

Total Years of Experience:

•           A minimum of 2 years research experience preferred but not required

 

Desired/Preferred Expertise:

•           Specialization in solid and/or fluid mechanics

•           Proficiency with programming (Fortran, Python, C/C++)
