Job Duties
Under general supervision:
- The Senior Well Engineering Leader is responsible for more technically complex well designs and process implementation for well proposals, the Well Basis of Design, and Well Operation Programs.
- May be responsible for supervising less senior Well Engineers .
- Assures technical integrity of Well Operations planning and execution.
- Responsible for continuous improvement through lessons learned, timely End-of-Well reports and ensures feedback is incorporated in future operations.
- Ensures creation and approval of Approval for Expenditure (AFE) and cost control of operations.
- Ensures risk assessments are conducted to assure a safe and environmentally acceptable operation and forecasts and plans medium and long term needs to meet operational requirements.
- Coordinates daily morning meetings, anticipates operational changes and needs, and revises plans accordingly.
- Evaluates results compared to goals and performance targets.
- Ensures engineering studies are performed to solve recurring problems.
- Prepares equipment lists and identifies long lead items.
Additional Role Responsibilities:
(1) Ability and flexibility to travel to Iraq both domestically and internationally typically 28/28 days per business required.
(2) Project Execution – Responsible for planning, logistics, supervision, and documentation of the execution of well work activities. Work closely with the engineers and Operations Team Managers to make well work decisions/recommendations including selection and optimization of services; materials; fluid systems; operational techniques, operational efficiencies, cost tracking, and management of project risks. Provide input on well programs, including details around HSSE, well control, equipment, contractors, etc.
(3) HSSE – Responsible for ensuring HSSE is integrated in the procedure and execution of completion and well intervention operations. Actively promote HSSE and Sustainable Development (SD) in all activities and ensure compliance with business principles.
(4) Coaching and Mentoring -- Coach and mentor less experienced team members to deliver best-in-class performance in HSSE, cost, and time.
(5) Cost and Time Tracking – Champion and Manager a team of supervisors in tracking well costs and job timing during execution, including differentiating trouble costs/time from expected costs/time.
(6) Contract Management – Provide input and suggestions on service contracts to enable high performance. Manage contractor services in the field in line with the contracting strategy and the goals of the contract management team. Support contract management as a contract holder is select cases and participate as a member of the contract management team. Serve as a focal point for HSSE management with the contractors and the evaluation of service quality.
(7) Performance Improvement – Responsible for championing operational performance improvement initiatives throughout the well delivery process. Support the implementation of new technologies as part of the performance improvement process. Manager the supervisory team in implementation of opportunities to optimize operations.
(8) Communication – Responsible for maintaining communication and managing by example in ensuring integration with production operations and other support departments.
Qualifications
- Requires an undergraduate degree in STEM, preference in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering, and 8+ years of well services experience.
- Well Supervisory experience and exposure to Multi-discipline operations is preferred.
- Must have Well Control Certificate.
Preferred Experience:
Minimum of 10-years relevant experience in their discipline or in an operations environment within the oil & gas industry.
