Job Duties

Under broad direction, mentors a team of Software Testers that can be comprised of Manual and Automated Test Engineers. Comprehensive understanding of all elements of a successful software development program. Including but not limited to Code Inspections, Manual Testing, Automated Testing, Functional Requirements, Design, Usability, Test plans and Results and Defect Management. Assists with secure architecture design reviews and supports preparing applications for security testing. Ensures security vulnerabilities have been mitigated. This role is an integral part of the planning of future releases including estimating efforts required in Testing and Documentation and advising on product improvements based on experience gained from previous releases and customer feedback. Usually works on projects of moderate to complex scope. Requires completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Geo-science, Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline, and 4+ years of related experience, including software testing and/or development experience. Completion of a masters degree is preferred.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead quality assurance efforts across upstream Oil & Gas applications, ensuring robust testing coverage
    and high software reliability.
  • Design, develop, and execute effective test cases for various testing types including functional,
    integration, performance, regression, and UAT.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers and Product Owners to align testing
    strategies with business goals.
  • Manage defect tracking and resolution processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Contribute to test automation initiatives and framework enhancements to improve efficiency and
    scalability.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum, Geophysics, Geology, or Chemical Engineering with a GPA
    ≥ 7.5.
  • Minimum 4 years of QA experience, preferably in upstream Oil & Gas software environments.
  • Solid understanding of drilling and completions workflows such as well construction, fluids management,
    and performance monitoring.
  • ISTQB Foundation Level Certification is preferred but not mandatory.

 

Technical Expertise

 

  • Proficient in software testing methodologies: Smoke, Functional, Integration, Performance, Regression,
    and UAT.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and ALM tools like Azure DevOps/TFS or JIRA.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as WellCat, WellPlan, and Compass is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of automation tools and test framework design.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills with a collaborative mindset.
