Job Duties

Under direct supervision, creates basic geosteering models to assist in the pre-well planning stage utilizing the knowledge of the well environment and drilling operations. Assists as a second or third hand during real-time operations by interpreting data from logging tools, editing the geological model in the geosteering applications, and applying well planning methods; makes professional recommendations to the team during the course of the geosteering project. Presents complete, detailed, accurate, and professional reports to the geosteering crew and team as required, assists with composing reports to the customer, and maintains an updated standard well summary file during the well to assist in writing the end-of-well report. Supports real time communication tools used to provide visualizations of available interpreted geological data to the customer. Responsible for gaining the knowledge and developing the skills required to work proficiently as a geosteering professional, including the processes, use of tools and equipment in Measurement While Drilling/Logging While Drilling (MWD/LWD), Directional Drilling, Log Analysis, and Well Planning and the impact on geosteering operations. Requires an undergraduate degree in Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering or other STEM degree, and 1.5 years of relevant industry experience including Real Time Operations preferred.
