We are seeking a senior geomechanics engineer to join our consulting team. The position requires executing and leading geo-mechanical projects, developing workflows, and collaborating with other technical professionals in multi-disciplinary projects. The successful candidate will have a solid background in solid/rock mechanics and fluid flow through porous media and will be well familiar with state-of-the-art geo-mechanical analysis packages, including numerical modeling software FLAC3D or ABAQUS. The role will involve performing geo-mechanical analysis related to the full oil field life cycle with primary focus on reservoir geomechanics and also geo-mechanical analysis related to CO2 sequestration, EGS geothermal, and gas/H2 storage feasibility studies.


Position Details:

Responsibilities for this position includes:

•             performing geo-mechanical analysis such as, but not limited to:

-              1D and 3D geo-mechanical modeling

-              Wellbore stability analysis

-              Sand production analysis using analytical and numerical methods

-              Coupled fluid-mechanical simulations

-              Fault re-activation, caprock integrity, subsidence and compaction analysis

-              Geo-mechanical analysis related to casing damage, junction stability, salt and creep, and thermal analysis

-              Salt cavern integrity analysis

•             Interpretation of well and laboratory tests:

-              Rock mechanics laboratory test results for rock characterization

-              Mini-frac, LOT, XLOT, DFIT test results for field stress estimation

•             Conduct due diligence reviews and independent report work

•             Work closely with Subject Matter Expert and Lead Geomechanics to develop innovative workflows using existing and new technologies to improve project efficiency, and promote geo-mechanical applications portfolio


Required Qualifications:

-              Preferred PhD degree in related fields (Geomechanics, civil/mechanical/mining engineering) with minimum 5 years of industry experience, or

-              Master's degree in civil/mechanical/mining/reservoir engineering with geomechanics / geotechnical / rock mechanics focus and minimum 8 years of industry experience 

-              Solid background in fundamentals of geomechanics including rock testing and interpretation methods, and geo-mechanical analysis methods and theories

-              Knowledge of pore pressure estimation and measurement techniques

-              Familiarity with geo-mechanical analysis tools and workflows

-              Prior experience in coupled hydro-thermo-mechanical simulations and analysis

-              Proficient in numerical simulation software packages (FLAC3D or ABAQUS)

-              Good knowledge of reservoir engineering and basic knowledge of drilling and completion practices

-              Familiarity and prior experience with reservoir simulation packages is highly preferred 

-              Familiarity with Python is highly preferred

-              Demonstrated strong communication skills, and one who can effectively work in a team environment
