Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- Under direct supervision of a qualified trainer or supervisor, the individual is trained to operate the basic equipment required to produce and package product that is created by mixing or reaction of highly hazardous raw materials.
- The basic equipment includes but is not limited to: chemical hoses, diaphragm pumps, centrifugal or positive displacement pumps, heat exchangers, agitators, manual valves.
- The operator at this level will be required to understand the use of utilities as it relates to the operation.
- The operator will be required to understand the need to heat and cool the reactor contents in order to manage the heat of reaction as well as the DCS operation.
- The operator will be trained in understanding how the work process works related to reviewing batch orders, checking the raw materials, charging the raw materials, overseeing the process (which may include in-process sampling), finishing the batch, packing out the product and closing the order.
- The operator will be required to follow all site safety rules and the use of specific PPE.
- The operator is expected to recognize hazards, use SDS and take on a leadership role in an emergency (i.e. ops chief or safety lead).
- The operator will be required to understand the safe work permitting, hot work permitting, confined space permitting, equipment isolation from hazardous energy and the lock out/tag out.
- Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
- The operator should be capable of performing simple troubleshooting activity related to operability problems.
- The operator should be capable of training other operators on the use of the equipment.
- The operator should be capable of writing shift reports.
Qualifications:
- Requires High School Diploma.
- Two years vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience is required.
