Position Overview
The Senior Communications Lead is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that support organizational goals and improve brand reputation. This role manages both internal and external communications, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with company objectives. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with strong writing skills, media relations, and an understanding of the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Communications
- Develop and implement strategies to inform and engage employees across multiple channels (email, intranet, town halls, newsletters).
- Craft clear, compelling messages that align with company priorities and culture.
- Collaborate with leadership to support change management and strategic initiatives.
External Communications
- Manage media relations, including drafting press releases, pitching stories, and responding to inquiries.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, trade publications, and industry influencers.
- Oversee crisis communication plans and reputation management efforts.
Content Development
- Write, edit, and proofread materials in accordance with AP Style guidelines.
- Produce high-quality content for digital platforms, presentations, speeches, and marketing collateral.
- Ensure message consistency across all channels and audiences.
Strategic Planning
- Develop integrated communication plans to support business objectives.
- Monitor and analyze communications effectiveness using KPIs and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in oil and gas communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tools for content drafting, compliance checks, and workflow efficiency.
- Proven ability to manage internal and external communications programs.
- Strong writing and editing skills with mastery of AP Style.
- Experience in media relations, including proactive pitching and crisis management.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of energy industry regulations and terminology.
- Experience with executive communications and thought leadership.
- Project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
