About the Role

The Engineering Manager for Real Time Data Platform leads the development, reliability, and evolution of critical real-time data platforms supporting global drilling operations. This role is accountable for platform performance and the delivery of scalable, high-reliability systems that power customer-facing well log data services. This position plays a key leadership role in advancing the RTS platform during a critical phase of modernization, supporting high-volume data environments while driving cloud adoption and operational efficiency. Operating with broad autonomy, this role combines platform ownership, people leadership, and cross-functional execution across R&D, Operations, and Product teams.

 

Key Responsibilities
•    Lead the development, deployment, and sustainment of real-time data platforms supporting drilling operations.
•    Ensure system availability, performance, and scalability across high-volume data environments.
•    Drive DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to improve uptime, automation, and operational efficiency.
•    Define and execute platform roadmap, including modernization, cloud adoption, and cost optimization initiatives.
•    Oversee delivery of new features and enhancements aligned with business and customer needs.
•    Ensure compliance with data standards (e.g., WITSML) and integration across systems.
•    Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
•    Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
•    Collaborate with R&D, Product, and Operations teams to ensure successful delivery and integration of solutions.
•    Manage project priorities, resources, and timelines to meet business objectives.
•    Align platform capabilities with operational requirements and customer expectations.
•    Support budgeting, resource planning, and cost optimization efforts.
•    Promote standardization of development tools, engineering practices, and reliability frameworks.
•    Ensure alignment with HSE, quality, and corporate engineering standards.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline required.
•    Minimum 13+ years of experience in technology development, software engineering, or platform engineering.
•    Proven experience leading engineering teams in data platforms, cloud systems, or real-time environments.
•    Experience with DevOps, SRE practices, and system reliability engineering.
•    Strong understanding of data systems, distributed architectures, and performance optimization.
•    Experience with cloud transformation initiatives preferred.
•    Knowledge of oil & gas data standards (e.g., WITSML) is a strong advantage.
•    Demonstrated leadership in managing complex technical programs and cross-functional teams.
•    Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification preferred.
