Job Duties and Qualifications

The IT ASG SAP QA Manager reports directly to the Senior QA Manager supporting projects and sustaining activities within the Testing team, while adhering to the Halliburton Application Service Group (ASG) QA COE governance. This role will be accountable for supporting Software Testing Teams and Suppliers and aligning their organization with Halliburton Application Service Group (ASG) Testing COE Best Practices and Strategic Initiatives. This individual must possess strong financial acumen, technical, organization management leadership skills and a thorough knowledge of Software Testing Lifecycle to ensure that team members are equipped to deliver the Testing role within their teams.

 

The individual fulfilling this role will need to be able to implement the vision and strategy laid out by the Halliburton QA leadership within their organization. This individual must possess an ability to be vendor agnostic and demonstrates a willingness to collaborate with multiple vendors across projects or within the Application Service Group (ASG) QA COE Team.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • With general autonomy, responsible for "regional/local" supervision, support and deployment needs in one of six key areas: Applications, Business Unit, Customer Service, Infrastructure, Program Management, Service Delivery Center.
  • Understanding Halliburton Application Service Group (ASG) COE Governance and cohesiveness within their organization
  • Customer Services, such as service desk, security administration, request management, desktop support, COE standards, problem management and delivery management.
  • Identifying skilled resource profiles that align with job descriptions and work assignments
  • Implementing an internal onboarding plan for resources working within Halliburton Application Service Group (ASG) QA (i.e., time tracking, time management (unplanned time away), skills gap closure plan and knowledge retention)
  • Providing estimates for projects or sustaining efforts across the Halliburton Application Service Group (ASG) QA portfolio
  • Overseeing the sustaining work and maintaining the quality of the deliverable as identified by Application Service Group (ASG) QA COE Governance
  • Mentoring and Coaching resources assigned to projects to ensure that the testing strategy yields a quality delivery
  • Leading Testers in working effectively on Collaborative Agile teams to support "potentially shippable’ goal and strong collaboration across roles
  • Collaborating closely with the Application Service Group (ASG) QA COE Team by implementing training internally, ensuring resources are aligned with guidance and templates and responds to action items identified by audit reviews in a timely manner
  • Taking responsibility for the Quality Assurance discipline across platforms and functional areas where resources are staffed by vendor
  • Plans work and administers policies.
  • Job role is independently accountable for a large staff or support arm of the organization or a single profit/loss or revenue center, major product line, or support function.

Skills

 

  • Thorough understanding of the Software Testing Discipline 10 years of experience performing the Test Oversight Leadership role working with a large globally distributed team
  • Able to attract, develop and retain top talent within the Testing discipline, including sustaining an effective succession management plan and evaluating employee performances
  • Strong decision making and risk assessment to minimize likelihood of product
  • Ability to create a strategy and work with the team to determine the tactical actions needed to implement the strategy
  • Ability to manage onboarding and offboarding, and monthly reconciliation report of resources
  • Staying current on latest test approaches and tools, and transfer this knowledge to test team
  • Able to analyze and improve organizational effectiveness using data collected from project results, lessons learned, and other input sources
  • IT savvy, able to understand required technology and infrastructure needed to support the Testing/Quality Assurance function (Collaboration Zones, Tools, and Processes)
  • Ability to guide testing strategy from a balanced, computer science and Oil & Gas perspective
  • Project Management and oversight of multiple projects and teams in parallel and driving for results
  • Familiar with the Agile Framework and Software Testers roles within Agile
  • Ability to forecast headcount and financial impact

 

Minimum:

  • 10-12 years of experience in IT Management which includes experience in functional areas
  • 7+ years leading an Enterprise SW Testing team (25+) which is globally distributed delivering highly complex and integrated software across multiple platforms leveraging various SDLCs
  • Hands-on experience managing a Testing team with responsibility to test multiple technology types including SAAS, SAP Platform and Azure Cloud Solutions
  • 5+ years as a tester in a Software Quality Assurance organization with hands-on experience working in various technologies & 7+ years hands-on experience testing the SAP Platform
  • Hands-on experience tracking software defects, creating metrics, and writing status reports on the testing process
  • Familiar with various test tools, defect-tracking tools, and other tools supporting the Software Testing Lifecycle, and their integration with Application Lifecycle Management tools
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Experiencing implementing best practices across teams
  • Testing Experience in SAP S4 Hanna Migration - Preferred

 

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or related Degree required
  • Master of Business Administration Degree preferred
