Job Duties and Qualifications
- Under broad direction, responsible for implementing or managing the implementation of programs, policies and procedures in support of the Company's sustainability strategies, including but not limited to sustainability management systems, reporting, pollution prevention and waste minimization and Sustainability related controls that are relevant to comply to legislation and business needs.
- Manage Sustainability metrics relevant to external and internal reporting (Annual Sustainability Report, Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Carbon Disclosure Project, etc.)
- Track internal and external key sustainability performance indicators (KPIs)
- Collaborate with legal to ensure compliance to Sustainability regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with PSL’s to ensure Sustainability in product development
- Set and communicate expectations for sustainable business practices
- Maintain and monitor Sustainability policies and work methods for continuous improvement.
- Understand and assist in forecasting compliance requirements based on upcoming and current developments in business needs and Sustainability legislation
- Participate in strategy workshops to establish annual sustainability strategy and direction.
- Assist in developing and implementing Sustainability risk management plans and projects in collaboration with legal, compliance, reporting and other global teams
- Review supply chain Sustainability data, reports and presentations
- Assist in supplier Sustainability risk management programs (communication, policies, risk assessments, risk mitigation, remediation, corrective action plans, reporting etc.).
- Provides advice to operations, real estate services and legal personnel, and assist in scheduling technical content and regulatory aspects of sustainability due diligence and remediation projects on a global basis.
- Represent the company in industry forums and engage with external stakeholders.
- Participate in development of industry guidance on Sustainability matters and lead the application of best practices to internal processes.
- Must maintain professional knowledge of a wide variety of sustainability regulations and issues, as well as proposed changes.
- Develop presentations, training and associated materials, interpretation of data, standards, codes regulations and report writing
- Facilitation and leadership of focused teams is common, as well as interface at all organizational levels and with regulatory agencies, and affected third parties and their representatives.
- In addition, the position may develop new programs and make improvements to management systems as required in response to changes necessitated by business markets and clients.
- Provides leadership and technical direction to other less experienced personnel.
- Assignments will not be generally well defined and will require a high degree of initiative and technical expertise to determine best approach to problem solving.
Requirements:
- Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in a science or engineering discipline to include 6+ years’ work experience.
- Advanced degree may be given preference.
- Requires excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- Good computer and research skills required.
