Job Duties and Qualifications

  • Under broad direction, independently applies advanced engineering techniques, makes decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations.
  • Performs the role of a working supervisor with a higher degree of experience, who executes all the duties and responsibilities of an Senior Unit Manager, yet is also responsible for running specialized services such as LaserStrat and or working as a Well site Geologist.
  • Also the supervision of subordinates in the crew. Responsible for the success of all phases of assigned Remote monitoring jobs therefore sets performance standards for the crew.
  • Gathers accurate factual logging information (Depth, Gas Units and Composition, Rate of Penetration, Lag Time, Engineering Data and Calculations, Pressure Detection Data).
  • Interprets logging information to determine occurrence and composition of any oil and/or gas shows which occur while drilling.
  • Analyzes and documents as per Halliburton Surface Data Logging System (SDL) Zone of Interest and Show Reports.
  • Provides lithologic descriptions of all formations drilled and identifies formation name, group, or member.
  • Assembles mud logging information into mud logs and INSITE Drilling Database following established Halliburton SDL and/or customer guidelines and procedures.
  • Communicates mud logging information to customer as necessary to fulfill their requirements. (Morning Report, Show Notification, Engineering Problems, Delivery of Mud Logs).
  • Performs any other specialized tests or gathers any additional data as required by the customer.
  • Ensures gathering assembly, and assures timely delivery of sets of cutting samples as per customer requirements when providing specialized services such as LaserStrat or as a Well Site Geologist.
  • Maintains documented transmittal sheets.
  • Ensure safe, neat, professional set up of LaserStrat Equipment is performed. Ensures rigs-down neat with concern for the efficiency of the next rig-up. Ensures rig-down follows procedure, and inventories needed parts.
  • Performs any specialized monitoring services as required by customer, supervisor, INSITE & IRIS. Properly briefs relief personnel of activities while relief was absent.
  • Ensures personnel change outs are smooth, unambiguous transitions which in no way jeopardize the performance quality of the unit and crew.
  • Performs in such a way as to obtain repeat business.
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines.
  • Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.

 

Requirements

  • Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Geology or related discipline and
  • A minimum of 5-1/2 years of relevant experience, with average experience of 6-9 years.
  • Must have successfully passed company tests or met task guideline requirements and met the minimum competency requirements for the ROC and/or Field Unit Mgr-SDL, Sr. Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to standards required.
  • Must possess good communication, supervisory, interpersonal, leadership, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills.
  • Ability to perform quality work under moderate to critical conditions with no direct supervision.
  • Accuracy is critical to the effectiveness of customer decisions which are based on gathered and assembled data.
  • This role is highly experienced, and due to the very critical nature of wells assigned, customer satisfaction is extremely important.
  • Failure to deliver requisite accurate data will likely be serious and expensive, and can lead to bad customer relations varying in degree from slight dissatisfaction to very significant losses of future sales.
