Service Operator I - Service Specialist I - Fiber Optics

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under direct supervision, rigs-up and rigs-down fiber optic installation and acquisition equipment on wellsite locations for the purpose of installing fiber optic cables into sub-surface geological formations.

  • Operates fiber optic installation equipment during cable deployment on rig operations

  • Operates fiber optic splicing and testing equipment to terminate fiber and measure signal (Fusion Splicing & OTDR)

  • Maintains, cleans and performs preventative maintenance on downhole installation equipment

  • Performs pre and post job vehicle and equipment inspections and associated paperwork and/or reports.

  • Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.

  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines.

  • Operates data acquisition equipment during long-term monitoring projects  (DAS/DTS/DPS)

  • This position may include wireline job duties such as assisting in the installation of fiber optic retrievable based applications.



  • High school or similar education and 6 months of experience as an Operator Assistant II is required.

  • Licensure to drive commercial equipment is preferred.

  • Successful completion of Well Control Accreditation Program may be required (some locations).

  • Given the nature of oil field service work, the ability to communicate effectively with others is necessary.

  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required.

  • Basic reading comprehension and writing skills are required.

  • Basic computer skills are preferred.
