About the Role

The Strategic Procurement Manager provides strategic leadership for Baroid’s Category Management function with broad autonomy. This role oversees direct, indirect, manufacturing, and field category portfolios, ensuring alignment with P&M’s strategic vision and Baroid’s global operational objectives.

The position leads demand understanding, supply chain planning, category strategy execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role carries independent responsibility for major business outcomes, portfolio budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and the development of category management talent.

The Strategic Procurement Manager directly leads a team of approximately 10–20 professionals and is accountable for building organizational capability and delivering measurable value across the global procurement portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Category Management program across direct, indirect, manufacturing, and field categories.

  • Develop and execute long-term procurement and category strategies aligned with business priorities.

  • Collaborate with PSL leadership, cross-functional partners, and customers to understand demand and align supply chain planning.

  • Ensure compliance and alignment with P&M’s strategic sourcing and governance framework.

  • Approve category composition and long-range category plans.

  • Oversee planning, execution, and tracking of improvement initiatives across the portfolio.

  • Review and approve business cases, ensuring financial rigor and stakeholder alignment.

  • Manage the Portfolio function’s budget and financial performance.

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of 10–20 procurement professionals.

  • Strengthen organizational capability and succession planning for future category management roles.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 10+ years of related experience in strategic procurement or supply chain leadership.
  • Demonstrated expertise managing high-value, multi-functional procurement portfolios.
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams (10–20 direct reports).
  • Strong commercial judgment and negotiation capability in complex, global environments.

 

Preferred

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience in oilfield services, manufacturing, or global industrial supply chains.

 

Work Environment & Travel

  • Approximately 20–30% global travel required to support supplier engagement, stakeholder alignment, and international operational initiatives.
