The role of Cable Technician is specific to ESP / downhole and surface cable. The cable tech is required to test, prepare and make repairs to downhole cable for submersible equipment for use in the field. The technician will use a hipot machine to test grounding, locate damaged spots and make repairs. High attention to detail, mathematical accuracy and meticulous craftsmanship is required to ensure quality of cable. Cable splicing and cable repairs is required on new and used cable, both onto a motor lead and add to surface cable. Work environment is fast paced and will require working outside of normal business hours. Skills and experience in ESP cable splicing, spooling and testing is preferred. The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required. Basic reading comprehension and writing skills are required. Basic computer skills are required. GED is required. Cable technician must promote safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and comply with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
