Job Duties

Responsibilities include: Responsible for managing special projects and managing new and existing business surveys; writes technical proposals and recommendations, troubleshooting technical issues that are encountered by the operations force; conducts field and product selection testing, and presents results and recommendations to both internal and external customers. Design and provide technical oversight for advanced chemical applications within oil and gas completions operations. Specifically accountable for providing chemical applications expertise for Friction Reducers (FRs), Scale Inhibitors, Biocides, and Oxidizer product lines across multiple US shale basins, notably the Midland and Delaware basins of West Texas. Provide technical leadership in field operations, including conducting high-fidelity water diagnostics, executing static and dynamic compatibility testing (e.g., scale bottle testing, friction reducers flow loop testing, microbial analysis), and rapidly troubleshooting Friction Reducer applications when performance fails to meet expectations. Conduct analyses of sub-par performance to determine potential contributing factors such as temperature, TDS variability, pressure, microbial activity, and scaling tendencies. Present high-stakes technical documentation, including performance optimization reports and customer-facing recommendations, while maintaining the ability to defend complex chemical decisions to both internal stakeholders and external operators at the executive and field-engineer levels. Coaches less experienced or non-technical personnel on how proper chemical selection and application can improve the performance of hydraulic fracturing applications for both Halliburton and the client. May work at various unanticipated locations throughout U.S. 

Requirements

Employer will accept a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Technical Professional, Senior-related occupation.

 

Position also requires experience in the following: 

 

1.    Experience with project management and coordinating/prioritizing the activities of laboratory personnel to ensure projects are completed on time and in accordance with client demands in regards to chemical lab testing, research, and field implementation of completion projects. 
2.    Experience with the chemistry of fracturing chemicals, water analysis and designing a holistic chemical program that effectively addresses technical challenges and presents an economic return to the client. 
3.    Experience with fracturing operations and data analytics to plan, execute, and optimize hydraulic fracturing treatments to enhance fracturing times and hydrocarbon recovery from oil and gas reservoirs, and minimize emissions, including the technical aspects of frac design, pump schedules, proppant, casing size, well length, flow pad and fluid selection, and on-site coordination with service providers. 
4.    Experience with advanced laboratory instrumentation and analytical techniques, including ICP, DSL, FTIR, XRD, XRF, FR flow loops, and spectrophotometers, to ensure the generation of precise and reliable test results. 
5.    Experience employing advanced predictive modeling tools, such as the ScaleSoft Pitzer program, to assess and forecast scaling risks in complex brine systems and support the development of highly targeted scale mitigation strategies. 
6.    Experience applying AMPP (formerly NACE) standards for corrosion and scale control to ensure industry-compliant, technically sound solutions across diverse production/completion environments. 
7.    Experience with chemical pumping equipment to ensure the accurate and efficient delivery of treatment chemicals during oilfield operations, particularly in hydraulic fracturing and water treatment applications. This includes selecting the appropriate pumps, calibrating flow rates, maintaining equipment functionality, and troubleshooting mechanical issues to avoid downtime or improper chemical dosing.
