Summer Internship - Oslo - Multidisciplinary Engineering & Technology Intern

Date:  Mar 26, 2026
Location:

Oslo, 03, NO, 0167

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about solving real-world energy challenges through technology? Whether your background is in geoscience, geophysics, petroleum engineering, or software engineering, this internship offers a unique chance to work at the intersection of subsurface domain expertise and cutting-edge software development.

As a Summer Intern in our Reservoir Center of Excellence, you will join a multidisciplinary project team working on real products and real problems. You will contribute to building intelligent, data-driven applications that help our customers make better decisions about their subsurface assets — combining domain knowledge, modern software engineering, and emerging AI capabilities.

We believe the best solutions emerge when different perspectives come together. That’s why this internship is designed for a diverse cohort: you’ll collaborate closely with peers from different disciplines and be supported by experienced mentors across both the technical and domain sides of our work.

What You’ll Do

Your specific focus will depend on your background and the project you are assigned to, but internship activities may include:

• Contributing to the design and development of data-driven applications for reservoir modelling, simulation, and decision support.

• Building or extending backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using Python and modern frameworks.

• Exploring and prototyping AI/LLM-powered features — including agentic tools, model integrations, and intelligent automation.

• Working with subsurface data, geological models, or simulation workflows to solve domain-specific engineering challenges.

• Collaborating with software engineers, reservoir engineers, and geoscientists in a Lean/Agile team environment.

• Writing clean, well-tested code and following modern development practices (Git, CI/CD, code review).

• Presenting your work and findings to the broader team at the end of the internship.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from a range of disciplines. You don’t need to tick every box — what matters most is that you are curious, motivated, and eager to learn in a multidisciplinary setting.

Education

Currently pursuing or recently completed an M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Geoscience, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Depending on your discipline, some combination of the following:

Proficiency in Python and/or other programming languages (C#, JavaScript, etc.).

Understanding of geological processes, reservoir engineering principles, or subsurface modelling workflows.

Familiarity with geomodelling tools, flow simulators, or reservoir data analysis.

Interest in or exposure to AI/ML concepts, LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI, Anthropic APIs), or agent-based architectures.

Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.

Basic familiarity with backend/API development, databases, or cloud platforms is a plus.

Personal Qualities

• Genuinely curious — you enjoy learning new things across disciplines, not just within your own.

• A collaborative team player who communicates well and respects different perspectives.

• Structured, analytical, and proactive in your approach to problem-solving.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Self-driven with a willingness to take initiative and ownership of your contributions.

• Excited about the intersection of energy, technology, and innovation.

What We Offer

• A meaningful project with real impact — not just coffee runs and slide decks.

• Hands-on experience in a professional, multidisciplinary R&D team.

• Mentorship from experienced engineers and scientists across software and subsurface domains.

• Exposure to state-of-the-art technologies in AI, reservoir simulation, and cloud-native platforms.

• A collaborative, inclusive, and international work environment in Oslo.

• The chance to build your professional network in the energy technology industry.
