We are looking for a collaborative and experienced chemical plant Operations Superintendent to join the leadership team at our Pasadena, TX facility.  The Production superintendent will be responsible for the safe and environmentally compliant operation of the plant production department, reporting to the Plant manager. This function is accountable for meeting the production operating budget as well as maintaining a high productivity and efficiency rate for hourly workforce. The Operations Manager will work closely with the rest of the leadership team in the implementation of plant objectives as well as supporting the site HSE programs

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and leadership to operations team
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of departmental procedures and policies
  • Responsible for controlling budget of the operations team
  • Ensures PSM compliance for production activities
  • Solve production, shift personnel, and raw material issues
  • Work with HSE to ensure safety and environmental activities are getting supported by operations
  • Work with Engineering on future projects and current improvement ideas
  • Participate as needed in incident investigation
  • Participate as needed in PHAs and Hazard Reviews
  • Develop targets and measure production utilization and efficiencies
  • Hold operations personnel accountable for performance
  • Ensure Operations personnel are completing training as required
  • Participate in commercialization process as needed
  • Utilize MOC Process to manage changes
  • Complete action items and participate /lead in incident investigations
  • Actively serve on the Bayport’s Leadership Team and participate in Leadership Team activities such as recurring plant walkabouts, safety meetings, and coordination of special plant activities


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or science related field, such as chemical engineering or chemistry
  • 10 years of production experience in a chemical manufacturing or batch processing environment
  • At least 5 years of direct supervisory experience managing hourly employees
  • A strong understanding and experience in OSHA regulations, hazardous materials handling, and environmental regulations
  • A proven record of responsibility/accountability to meeting department and plant operating budgets, integrating production process across multiple shifts, and safety leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to satisfy the internal and external customer requirements
