Electronics Technician

Under direct supervision, performs functional testing and routine testing/analyzing using defined and well documented/proven procedures of individual electronic circuits or Printed Circuit Boards (PCB). Exercises some judgment in the diagnostics, troubleshooting, and basic functional and environmental testing, of existing electrical and/or electronic equipment. Through reliability training, becomes aware of reliability and safety issues. Complies with Halliburton HSE and Service Quality requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Test, maintain, troubleshoot, and/or modify surface electrical controls for Electrical Submersible Pump systems.  Assist in development of new surface control projects (mock-ups, test panels, etc.)

May participate in equipment failure analysis.  Write reports; create diagrams, as necessary, relevant to any/all job tasks.

Perform other duties as necessary to support own or supervisor’s activities.


Basic understanding of both AC and DC electrical theory.

Ability to interpret power electrical and electronic schematic diagrams.

Trained in the use of common multi-meters and test equipment. (Fluke Multi-meters, amp-clamp meters, oscilloscope etc. Will train on specialized test equipment.)


Windows/Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Variable Speed Drive theory, operation and/or repair.

Experience with Medium voltage systems.

Experience with Analog and/or Digital I/O.

Relay logic, Ladder Logic, C++ programming.

Familiarity with power harmonics.


Skills are typically acquired through the completion of an Associate's degree in a related field of science or through 2 years experience working in a related technician, manufacturing, and/or military equivalent role.
