Firmware Engineer

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Minimum experience level required is 5 years
  • Responsible for the development, test, and support of embedded firmware. 
  • Responsible for hands-on code development, testing, debug, and release. 
  • Responsible for training and coaching less experienced engineers. 
  • As required, must be able accustomed to writing engineering reports, UML, and sufficient documentation. 


Job Requirements:

 

  • Must have a BS degree in one of the followings: Computer engineering, Computer Science, Electric Engineering, Electronics Engineering 
  • Must have at least five years of experience with the C/C++ programming language for embedded systems. 
  • Must have experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. 
  • Must be proficient with source control systems (e.g., Git). 
  • Must have the ability to scope and estimate development effort. 
  • Must be proficient in the use of multiple compilers, debuggers, and IDE´s. 
  • Must be experienced with some or all following typical interfaces for embedded microcontrollers: UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, TIMER, PWM, ADC. 
  • Must have experience with unit testing and test-driven development 
  • Must have the ability to architect embedded firmware, from high-level task scheduling to low-level HALs. 
  • Must have strong verbal, writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 
  • Must have the ability to work within a team environment. 
  • Be able to read and understand schematics and capable of debugging new designs. 
  • Expected to have the knowledge and hands-on experience of writing protocol stacks. 


Desired:

 

  • Desired to have experience in structured design, OOD, code reusability, and best practices for embedded systems. 
  • Desired to have proficiency in KEIL MDK IDE. 
  • Desired to have the knowledge and hands-on experience with communication standards (OSI model, MODBUS, and TCP/IP). 
  • Desired to have experience with MISRA C or CERT C. 
  • Desired to have experience in Thumb-2. 
  • A strong plus is to be a self-starter who is curious and enjoys learning new things.
