Job Duties
Position Summary
- Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in solving complex problems during the development and application of new and improved products and processes.
- Establishes best practices incorporating Reliability, Health, Safety, and Environment principles to guide others in analysis and design.
- Evaluates proposed theoretical results to meet design requirements.
- Acts as a technical expert, solving system equations and creating custom models to simplify problems using advanced engineering tools.
- Coaches, develops, and reviews the work of other engineers.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.
- Contributes to Halliburton’s Intellectual Property portfolio with innovative and commercially viable solutions.
- Works across global teams (Brazil, US, Singapore, India).
- Closely collaborates with Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Project Management teams at the Halliburton Technology Center in Brazil (HBTC).
Qualifications
- Master’s or doctoral degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or a closely related discipline is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 10+ years in R&D, preferably in multidisciplinary and international team environments.
- Proven experience designing complex system solutions across Oil & Gas, mining, and/or aerospace industries.
- Background in subsea applications and well control solutions involving multiple disciplines is desirable.
- Experience in well intervention solutions is also desirable.
- Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
- Involvement in patent development processes.
- Regularly prepares and delivers technical status reports to stakeholders.
- Proficient in Risk Assessment, FMEA, and other reliability methodologies.
- Knowledge of power control and communication systems/solutions.
- Advanced skills in electronic circuit design and simulators (e.g., LTSPICE, PSPICE), as well as math tools like Matlab and MathCAD, focused on embedded systems in harsh environments (O&G, mining, aerospace).
- Experience with system automation using robotics.
- Skilled in modeling, control design, and simulation of electromechanical systems using standard tools (Matlab, LabView, ROS, PLC software, etc.).
- Strong knowledge in control system design, signal processing, feedback loops, and system dynamics.
- Familiarity with ROV operations, subsea inspection, and autonomous underwater systems is a plus.
- Understanding of MIMO in motion planning (sensing and feedback for power/torque control).
