Presentation/teaser to the position:

Halliburton, a pioneer in Formation Evaluation and Geosteering, has been instrumental in participating in the development of the hydrocarbon resources of the Norwegian continental shelf since the first test well in 1966.

To strengthen our Geosteering organization, we are seeking an experienced Geosteering Geologist. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in Geosteering, log analysis, Measurement While Drilling (MWD) and Logging While Drilling (LWD). Experience in well placement using Deep and Ultra Deep resistivity tools is essential. This role involves leading Geosteering projects for upcoming operations.

The Geosteering Project Lead position includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Lead current Geosteering projects in delivering customized solutions for various subsurface challenges faced by different customers.
  • Generate pre-well feasibility studies for all UDAR services.
  • Monitors Deep and Ultra Deep resistivity operations and provides analysis of conditions encountered in real time to optimize well placement.
  • Performs a complete post-mortem studies integrating all Geological branches with and tool responses.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to develop, improve, and implement new technologies.
  • Foster team development through training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Develop new and innovative analysis methods and workflows within the discipline.
  • Contribute to the Halliburton value creation targets by writing and presenting technical publications.

In summary, this position aims to enhance customer relationships and technical collaborations by working on complex subsurface challenges, spanning from reservoir engineering to Geosteering. A key requirement is a demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between technological solutions and cross-domain integration to address these complex subsurface problems effectively.

 

A significant breadth of knowledge is required to be successful in this position where the ability to work effectively as a team and integrate a wide variety of data sources to solve complex problems is a pre-requisite.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in Geosteering.
  • MWD & LWD or drilling operations experience is an advantage.
  • Preferably Master (MSc) or Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Geology or Geophysics
  • Experience in using Deep and Ultra Deep Azimuthal resistivity tools.
  • Experience using and interpreting LWD conventional tools responses
  • Experience with 3D Resistivity inversion.
  • Experienced with geoscience and Geosteering software such as RoxC, StrataSteer and Decision space.
  • 3+ years in a customer facing job role and has demonstrated the ability to identify opportunities to deliver Halliburton’s value proposition.
