Job Duties

The Petrophysics Advisor provides expert technical leadership in formation evaluation, reservoir characterization, and petrophysical analysis in support for an oil and gas asset managed under an Integrated Asset Management (IAM) contract.

Under broad direction from the Subsurface Technical Manager:

  • Develop and apply advanced formation evaluation techniques in support of the evaluation and development of potentially large, yet challenging oil and gas field development projects.
  • The Geophysical Advisor will perform detailed petrophysical analyses using well logs, core, and fluid data to determine porosity, permeability, water saturation, and hydrocarbon volumes. Integrate data from multiple sources (wireline, LWD, core, SCAL, formation tests, RFT/MDT pressure test/fluid samples, mini-fracs, Diagnostic Fracture Injectivity Tests, and geochem analysis) to generate robust reservoir property models. Evaluate and characterize different lithologies and fluid types within complex reservoir systems. Conduct multi-well and field-level petrophysical studies to support reservoir zonation and facies classification. Develop petrophysical models for input into geological and reservoir simulation workflows.
  • Provide technical oversight during logging operations (wireline and LWD) and post-job evaluations. Oversee the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of well logging data, ensuring data integrity and quality. Ensure consistency and standardization of petrophysical workflows and data management across the asset.
  • Solid grounding in petrophysics and working knowledge of development geology, static modeling, geomechanics, geologic operations, directional drilling and drilling & completions.
  • Be actively involved in technical engagements, present to and establish strong working relationships with senior management and key stakeholders
  • Present to and participate in internal and external reviews ensuring work deliverables are robust and fit-for-purpose.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced geoscientists within the asset team.
  • Promote the adoption of best practices, digital tools, and innovative techniques and technologies in petrophysics. The Petrophysics Advisor will collaborate and stay engaged with other key Halliburton petrophysical technical and product service line professionals, resources and research.

Qualifications

  • Requires an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering, geology or Applied sciences and a minimum of 10 years of experience in petrophysical evaluation, which includes experience in oil & gas operators, service companies or consulting companies.
  • Requires field development and reservoir management experience on a producing field for an oil & gas operator.
  • Extensive experience in clastic and/or carbonate reservoirs; exposure to mature or brownfield assets preferred

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications may be acquired through technical schools or equivalent related experience. Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available, including Petrophysics Advisor, Petrophysics Advisor, Sr, and Technical Manager.
