Job Description
- Support R&D materials and metallurgical testing of metals, alloys, and components under direct supervision.
- Operate and troubleshoot EDM equipment for sample sectioning, including basic G-code programming.
- Assist with mechanical and physical testing (e.g., hardness, mechanical, impact tests) following established procedures.
- Prepare material samples for testing and characterization, including sectioning, cleaning, polishing.
- Operate optical microscopes to support microstructural evaluation and documentation of DBS materials and components.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to build prototype components for R&D testing.
- Accurately document test procedures, data, observations, and results in laboratory records and reports.
- Assemble and support test fixtures, coupons, and prototype components used in materials evaluations.
- Learn and apply basic laboratory tools, equipment, and handling techniques.
- Follow company-approved materials standards, specifications, and test methods.
- Support quality, reliability, and HSE practices in all laboratory and testing activities.
- Work in a closely supervised environment where errors are readily identifiable and corrected through coaching.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Entry level position, no experience required.
Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available, including Associate Mechanical Technician or Senior Mechanical Technician.
