About the Role
The Electrical / Electronics Technical Professional serves as a key contributor to the design, development, validation, and sustainment of electrical and electronic systems supporting downhole tools and associated surface equipment. This role plays a critical function in leading and supporting Manufacturing Test Lab (MTL) systems used to qualify and maintain flagship Sperry platforms including iCruise, SpecStar, QuantaStar, and other business-critical products.
Working under general supervision, this position supports both new product development and service quality initiatives, ensuring test systems, hardware, and firmware meet performance, reliability, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate electrical and electronic hardware supporting downhole tools and surface systems.
- Lead and support Manufacturing Test Lab (MTL) systems used for product qualification, verification, and service quality assurance.
- Develop and test analog and digital circuitry, power distribution systems, signal conditioning, and communication interfaces.
- Develop, test, and debug firmware for microprocessor, microcontroller, or DSP-based systems.
- Perform system-level diagnostics and analytical troubleshooting of electrical and electronic subsystems.
- Support design validation, reliability testing, and environmental qualification programs.
- Investigate field returns and manufacturing issues through structured root cause analysis.
- Develop technical specifications, test procedures, and engineering documentation.
- Apply reliability engineering principles throughout the design and validation process.
- Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Field Service teams to ensure seamless product support across the lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with Halliburton HSE and Service Quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline required.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in electrical/electronic system design, validation, or troubleshooting.
- Experience with analog/digital circuit design and embedded systems preferred.
- Familiarity with microcontroller or DSP-based systems.
- Experience developing or supporting automated test systems strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies).
- Understanding of reliability principles and structured validation methodologies.
