Job Duties

  • With general autonomy, provides leadership and direction for a Technology Center or a Technology Department.
  • Supervises subordinate managers, supervisors and/or team leaders and provides general input into project plans and execution.
  • Initiates, prioritizes and justifies various projects, processes and/or initiatives supporting strategic direction.
  • Prepares for future workload demands by anticipating and recommending the appropriate level of capital expenditures and personnel requirements.
  • Develops and oversees department budgets.
  • Manages performance and salaries of staff by hiring, firing, conducting performance appraisals, coaching and mentoring for career and skills development.
  • May lead or initiate cross functional, cross department or cross center teams in developing, prioritizing and justifying various corporate projects, excellence projects, research projects, TBL projects and/or initiatives (e.g., standards, best practices, enabling technologies).
  • Possesses broad understanding of business aspects and associated technology of the TBL.
  • The manager is an advocate for; reliability initiatives, the use of project management techniques, and the optimum use of development tools.
  • This position understands and promotes HES's quality directives and initiates activities to improve service quality and acts in a leadership role with corporate HSE initiatives; represents HES with internal and outside organizations, such as suppliers, universities, and customers; assists the legal department in management of intellectual property in area of responsibility.
  • This job role is independently accountable for a large staff or support arm of the organization or a single profit/loss or revenue center, major product line, or support function. 

Qualifications

  • Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Material Science, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree, and minimum of 10 years experience or through equivalent work experience.
