Job Duties
Lead all tax-related activities in Brazil, including direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and tax reporting required by internal corporate team.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state and municipal tax regulations.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position and mitigate tax risks.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax consultants, and government authorities.
- Provide expert tax guidance on contracts, new business initiatives, cross-border transactions supporting domestic activities and business operations to ensure compliance, tax optimization and appropriate risk management.
- Monitor and assess the impact of changes in tax legislation & Brazil Tax Reform on business operations.
- Oversee timely and accurate preparation and submission of tax filings and audits.
- Oversee local audits, improve tax policies and process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Taxation or Tax Law. Experience in leading tax department in a Multinational company and with experience in a Big 4 firm is desired.
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in tax management, compliance, and planning roles.
- Strong knowledge of tax regulations, audit processes, and financial reporting standards.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional finance and business teams.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills related to tax issues and compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Experience in managing a large team.
- Solid proficiency in English and Portuguese.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Implement, manage and improve tax compliance strategies adapting to Brazil's dynamic regulatory environment, ensuring alignment with global standards and anticipate regulatory changes.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of tax calculation and reporting for external and internal compliance requirements such as USGAAP Provision, FIN48, FAS5, Audit reports, cash and ETR tax forecast.
- Proactive to implement technology and automation solutions.
- Develop and mentor the local team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, proactive attitude.
- Champion data-driven decision-making by leveraging analytics to identify compliance trends, optimize tax strategies and manage tax risk effectively.
- Overseeing all aspects of Brazil Tax Reform, keeping on track with new legal requirement and lead the cross functional team to execute the financial strategy to guarantee Tax Compliance, optimize the future financial impacts and cash flow.
